Frequently asked questions

Why Buy a Refurbished Laptop or Desktop from OzLaptops?

A professionally refurbished laptop or desktop can provide excellent performance and value without the cost of buying a new computer. OzLaptops stocks business-grade and everyday laptops from leading manufacturers including Lenovo, Dell and HP.

Our refurbished devices are tested, cleaned and prepared for reuse before being offered for sale. Many models include Windows 11 Pro and are backed by a 12-month hardware warranty.
Business Laptops and Desktops?

Business class laptops & desktops such as Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Latitude and HP EliteBook are designed for professional use and are a great choice for office work, Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, web applications, accounting software and working from home.

Choose 16GB RAM or higher if you regularly run multiple applications at the same time or need additional performance for business workloads.
For Students?

A refurbished device can be an affordable option for school, university and TAFE students.

For everyday study, web browsing, Microsoft Office, online classes and video calls, an Intel Core i5 laptop with 8GB RAM and SSD storage will suit many users. Students who need heavier multitasking or more demanding applications may benefit from 16GB RAM and a newer-generation processor.
Choosing the Right Specifications

8GB RAM – suitable for everyday browsing, Office, email and study.

16GB RAM – recommended for business users, multitasking and users who keep many applications or browser tabs open.

32GB RAM or more – suited to demanding professional applications, development, engineering and heavier workloads.

An SSD provides much faster startup and application performance than a traditional hard drive. Common capacities include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
Refurbished Condition

Because refurbished computers have been previously used, minor cosmetic marks may be present depending on the condition grade.

Where available, OzLaptops provides condition information so you can choose a laptop that suits your requirements and budget. Cosmetic condition does not prevent a device from being fully tested and prepared for normal operation.
Windows 11

All OzLaptops computers are supplied with Windows 11 Pro or Home, making them suitable for business, study and home use. Check the individual product specifications for the operating system included with each laptop.
Warranty

OzLaptops refurbished computers include a 12-month hardware warranty, subject to the applicable warranty terms shown on the product and warranty pages.
Australia-Wide Delivery & Sydney Pickup

OzLaptops delivers refurbished laptops & desktops across Australia. Customers in Sydney can also choose local pickup from North Rocks, NSW, subject to availability and order arrangements.
Are refurbished laptops and desktops reliable?

A properly tested refurbished business laptop and/or desktop can provide many years of useful service. Business ranges such as Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Latitude and HP EliteBook are particularly popular because they were originally designed for professional environments.
Is a refurbished laptop and desktops suitable for business?

Yes. Refurbished business laptops and desktops can be an excellent choice for Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, Xero, MYOB, web-based systems, email and general office work. Choose the processor, memory and storage specifications appropriate for your applications.
Is 8GB or 16GB RAM better?

8GB is suitable for many everyday tasks. For business use and heavier multitasking, we generally recommend 16GB where your budget allows.
Do refurbished laptops include a charger?

Check the individual product listing for included accessories. OzLaptops product descriptions specify when a compatible charger is included.
Choosing a Refurbished Gaming Computer

A refurbished gaming computer can provide strong gaming performance and excellent value without the cost of buying a completely new system. OzLaptops offers selected gaming desktops and laptops with dedicated graphics, SSD storage and performance-focused specifications.

Gaming performance depends on several components, particularly the graphics card, processor, memory and display resolution. Always check the individual product specifications and the requirements of the games you intend to play.
Gaming Desktops

A gaming desktop is a good choice for users who want strong performance, a larger display setup and greater upgrade potential. Selected OzLaptops gaming desktops include dedicated graphics cards and upgraded memory and storage configurations.

Some systems are also available as complete gaming packages. Check the individual product listing to confirm exactly which monitor, keyboard, mouse or other accessories are included.
Gaming Laptops

Gaming laptops combine dedicated graphics and higher-performance processors with the convenience of a portable computer. They can be suitable for gaming, study, creative applications and everyday computing from a single device.

When choosing a gaming laptop, consider the graphics processor, CPU, RAM, storage, display resolution and available ports as well as the requirements of the games and applications you plan to use.
Graphics Cards & Gaming Performance

The graphics processor is one of the most important components in a gaming computer. Systems with dedicated NVIDIA or AMD graphics generally provide significantly better gaming performance than computers relying only on integrated graphics.

Different games have different hardware requirements. A computer suitable for Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite or esports titles may not provide the same performance in newer demanding AAA games.
How Much RAM Do I Need for Gaming?

8GB RAM can run some lighter and older games, but may be restrictive for modern gaming and multitasking.

16GB RAM is a good starting point for many modern gaming systems and allows more comfortable multitasking.

32GB RAM or more can be useful for demanding games, content creation, streaming, development and users running heavier applications alongside their games.
Are refurbished gaming computers good for gaming?

Yes, provided the hardware meets the requirements of the games you want to play. Pay particular attention to the graphics card, processor, RAM and storage when comparing gaming systems.
What is the most important specification for a gaming PC?

The graphics card is one of the most important components for gaming performance. The CPU and RAM are also important, but a powerful processor cannot compensate for an inadequate graphics card in graphically demanding games.
Can I upgrade a refurbished gaming desktop?

Upgrade options vary by model, case size, motherboard, power supply and other hardware. Check the individual product specifications before purchasing if future graphics, memory or storage upgrades are important to you.
